See You Later (^o^)/~~

Hi Everyone,

Last Sunday OEK hosted a Welcome and Farewell party for Suzy and I, and even though it was rainy out, inside it was fun fun fun!

I was in for a surprise when Naomi and Yoneko took me aside to dress me in a kimono for the first time. I've never had the opportunity to wear a kimono before, so it was a very special moment for me, and one that I won't forget.


Afterward I was surprised again when I walked back into the big classroom to see so many students and their families ready for me with their cameras. It was like being a movie star for an hour! I took photos with many of my students, some of which I've posted onto the school's photo page.

Today is my last day at OEK and it's hard to believe that it's time for me to go. I've been at OEK exactly two years and one week since I started teaching here, and while the time moved so quickly, it feels like I have been here forever! OEK is my second home, and Shimizu is my Japanese hometown. I will miss this place dearly.

I'm staying in Shizuoka for the next year or so, so I hope that I can see you all around the city. I hope to come to Kappore, Halloween and OEK parties and events in the future, so maybe we'll be able to meet again!

I want to say thank you to everyone that I have had the pleasure of working with over the last few years. Thank you to the OEK staff, old and new, for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime and making me a part of the OEK family. Words can't express the gratitude and love I have for you, and I can't thank you all enough!! It's been such a crazy adventure!! I'll cherish these memories for the rest of my life.

5月23日（日）、OEKで“スージーと私の歓送迎会”が行われました。外は雨だったけど教室の中はすご~く楽しかったです！
NaomiとYonekoが他の部屋に連れて行って着物を着せてくれたのにはビックリでした。着物を着るのは初めてで本当に貴重な経験でした。絶対忘れません。
着物に着替えてパーティーの部屋に戻るとまたまたビックリ。たくさんの生徒さんとその家族の皆さんがカメラを構えていてくれたんです。この1時間はムービースターのような気分でした。たくさんの生徒さんと写真を撮り、その何枚かを教室ホームページの“Photo”ページに載せてあります。“Photo”ページから写真のコピーができるので、ご自分の写真が欲しい方はコピーしてくださいね！
今日はOEKで働く最後の日。今日が最後なんて信じられません。ここで先生になってからちょうど2年と１週間。あっという間に時間が過ぎてしまったけど、なんだか長い間ここにいた気がします。OEKは私の第2の我が家。清水は日本での私のホームタウン。ここを離れるのは本当に寂しいです。
あと1年くらいは静岡にいるので、町のどこかで皆さんにお会いできることを祈ってます。清水みなと祭りの“かっぽれ総踊り”やハロウィーンなどのイベント、パーティーにも参加したいと思います。だからまたお会いできるでしょう！
この2年間みんなと一緒に楽しく働けたことを感謝しています。OEKスタッフのみんな、素晴らしいチャンスをありがとう。OEKの一員になれて嬉しかった。言葉ではみんなへの感謝の気持ちと私の思いを伝え切れません。感謝してもしきれないです。本当に素晴らしい経験でした。ここでの思い出を一生大切にします。
本当に本当にありがとう！心の底から皆さんに、ありがとう！

HELLO FROM SUZY

Hello OEK friends old and new !

First of all I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to Kim for being such and important part of the OEK team for the last two years. Thank you for all your hard work, excellent teaching and dedication to your students. We will miss your warm smile and sense of fun ! All the best with your next endeavor.

It's great to be back as a teacher at OEK after an absence of 7 years ! It is a joy to be working in such a unique and beautiful place, and with a great team of people. I hope I can get to know those of you I don't already, and re-connect with students "of old"! As I have a 3-year-old daughter, I won't be teaching any night classes, but hope to see night students at OEK parties and events.

訳）　OEKの昔からの仲間も新しい方々も皆さん、こんにちは!!!　スージーです。

最初にまず私からKimに「ありがとう」って言いたい。この2年間おしゃべり英会話教室のスタッフとして皆を支え、たくさんのハンドワーク、すばらしいレッスンを作り上げてくれたKimの全てに感謝を言いたいです。私たちは、あなたの温かい笑顔、笑いが大好きで寂しくなりますが、次のステップに向けベストを尽くして欲しいです。がんばれ！

さて私は7年のお休みを得てようやくOEKのスタッフとしてまた戻ることができ、とても嬉しく思います。すばらしい仲間たちとユニークでとても素敵な場所で働くことは喜びであります。昔からの生徒さんはもちろん、新しい生徒さん達のことを、これからたくさん知れたら嬉しいです。私には今3歳になる娘がいますので夜のクラスにはなかなか顔を出せませんが、夜の生徒さんにもOEKのパーティーやイベント等でお会いできることを楽しみにしています。

いつもOEKを支えてくださって本当ありがとうございます！

Peace Now! Shimizu

Soon we will start a peace group at the Umegaoka classroom. The name of the group will be Peace Now! Shimizu, and we will meet once a month on the first Sunday of the month.

The aim of the group is to bring together a diverse group of wonderful people to build community and work towards peace and justice. We hope to foster this peace personally, locally, nationally and globally and find ways to live in harmony with the earth and each other.

Peace Now! Shimizu is not affiliated with any religious or political group or philosophy. We strive to be inclusive rather than exclusive—so please bring along your friends! Peace Now! Shimizu is also not English class—when you come please feel free to speak in whatever language you feel most comfortable with.

Peace Now! Shimizu is a great place to share your unique gifts. Do you have a workshop that you would like to lead or know of a really fabulous speaker to invite? If you have any ideas about possible activities for the meetings, or if you can volunteer to help out with the group somehow then please email Brian at arrrclifton@yahoo.com .

梅が岡教室で、ピースグループがもうすぐ始まります。
グループ名は「ピース、ナウ、清水」
毎月第一日曜日に開催します。

＊ピース、ナウ、清水って？

多様なバックグラウンドを持つ素晴らしい人々が集まり、
地域のために平和について考えようというのがその趣旨です。
そこで考えた「平和」が、個人的に、地域で、国単位で、
あわよくば世界単位で皆が仲良く暮らしていけることを
考えるきっかけになることを願っています。

このグループは既存のどんな宗教、政治、哲学グループ等にも属していません。
できる限りオープンで開放的な空間を作っていきたいと思っています。
どうぞ、友達を誘って出かけてください！

また、「ピース、ナウ、清水」は英会話教室ではありません。
参加するときは、もちろん自分の話したい言語で話してください。
英語が話せないなんて気にしないでくださいね。
